About Erin.

Dr Erin O'Dwyer

Dr Erin O’Dwyer is a narrative strategist, story coach and award-winning journalist.

Erin founded Good Prose Studios in 2023 after she realised demand for her core storytelling skills had never been stronger. No longer just from media and publishing houses but from leaders, experts and creative thinkers who wanted to tell better stories.

Her focus is clear: simple, practical cross-platform storytelling principles that anyone can use to communicate more effectively.

Over a 30-year career, Erin’s work has spanned print, digital, broadcast and publishing media. She has written for news mastheads including The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age, The Saturday Paper and The Guardian, and magazines such as Australian Women’s Weekly, Australian Geographic, Marie Claire and Vogue. She has produced podcasts and audio for ABC Classic and ABC Radio National, and been an editor on the ABC’s news site. She has held senior roles in screen policy and corporate communications. She is a two-time finalist and the winner of an Australian UN Media Peace Award, and a Walkley Awards finalist.

As a writing coach and book editor, she has helped hundreds of writers working across all non-fiction genres. She has spent two decades lecturing at the University of Sydney, where she mentors the next generation of storytellers.

She holds a PhD (UTS) and a BA/LLB (Hons), is a qualified lawyer, and has held a number of non-profit board roles.

She lives on the NSW South Coast with her identical twin sons.
