Erin O’Dwyer

Dr Erin O’Dwyer is a storytelling expert, and the director of Good Prose Studios.

Erin founded Good Prose Studios in 2023 after she realised demand for her core storytelling skills had never been stronger. No longer just from media and publishing houses. But from leaders, experts and creative thinkers who wanted to tell better stories.

Her focus is clear: simple, practical cross-platform storytelling principles that anyone can use to communicate more effectively.

Over a 30-year career, Erin’s work has spanned print, digital, broadcast and publishing media. Her writing and opinion pieces have appeared in The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age, The Saturday Paper and The Guardian. She has produced podcasts and audio for ABC Classic and ABC Radio National. She is a two-time finalist and the winner of an Australian UN Media Peace Award, and a Walkley Awards finalist.

As a writing coach and book editor, she has helped hundreds of writers working across all non-fiction genres.

As a ghostwriter, she is co-author of Accessory with Felicia Djamirze (Affirm Press, 2025) and Swellbeing with Blake Johnston (Hachette, 2025). She lectures at the University of Sydney, where she has spent two decades mentoring the next generation of storytellers.

She holds a PhD (UTS) and a BA/LLB (Hons), is a qualified lawyer, and has held executive and board roles in the media and not-for-profit sectors.

She lives on the NSW South Coast with her identical twin sons.
